Minor obtains damages as a result of fall on damaged paving stone.

A minor plaintiff has been awarded £10,000 in compensation following a personal injury claim arising from a trip caused by a damaged paving stone on a public footpath.

The accident occurred when the minor tripped over a defective paving stone, causing her to fall and sustain injuries to her ankle. Following the accident, the minor required medical treatment and experienced pain, discomfort, and a period of restricted mobility. The claim was resolved amicably between the parties, with the matter settling for £10,000 without any formal admission of liability. As the claimant was under the age of 18, the settlement was approved by the Court.

Danielle Cromie of Phoenix Law said, “This case highlights the importance of maintaining public footpaths in a safe condition to protect pedestrians from avoidable injuries. While no amount of compensation can undo the pain and disruption caused to the minor, we are pleased to have secured a fair settlement on there behalf and hope this outcome encourages greater attention to public safety and maintenance standards”
