Phoenix Law has launched a group action against Darren Campbell and the FBA Brand Builder (FBABB) programme. The legal action follows allegations that the programme misled participants and as a result caused significant financial losses.
Allegations against FBABB include employing unqualified individuals who advised clients to max out credit cards and establish businesses as charities to avoid U.S. taxes. Clients were also encouraged to take out personal loans for business purposes, all to support the ‘brand builder’ system. This guidance promoted a mindset shift towards irresponsible financial behaviour, urging clients to go ‘all-in’ regardless of the financial consequences. When clients found themselves tens of thousands of pounds in debt, the sole advice offered was to continue investing in hopes of achieving profitability. Financial advice is a highly regulated sector, and this irresponsible advice has led to severe consequences for people who have paid significant sums expecting proper, qualified guidance.
Diarmuid Brecknell, Lawyer at Phoenix Law stated:
“These practices not only misled participants but also jeopardised their financial security and exposed them to significant legal risks”
“Participants trusted the programme to provide reliable guidance, but instead, many were left facing financial ruin and potential legal consequences. Mr. Campbell purposely brands the product as something that allows you to make money fast and spend more time with your loved ones. This is predatory advertising that seeks to exploit people’s best intentions. Once things go wrong and people seek recourse, he becomes aggressively litigious and attempts to intimidate clients with threats of legal action against them. We recently saw TrustPilot take action to remove up to 65 fake reviews of his scheme, as well as issue a warning email for making legal threats towards reviewers. His business is also listed with a consumer warning on their website for this behaviour.”
As a result of the allegations, steps have now been taken to refer FBABB to the PSNI and the Financial Conduct Authority.
Phoenix Law is inviting anyone who has participated in the FBA Brand Builder programme and believes they were misled or harmed by its practices to join the group action. All information provided will remain strictly confidential, and participants’ privacy will be fully protected throughout the legal process.
