Phoenix Law provides a specialist criminal defence and regulatory law team to which we pride ourselves in our reputation as ‘hands on’ trial lawyers.   Team Phoenix has gained a reputation as the lawyers with forefront expertise in prosecutions under the controversial terrorism acts, prosecutions involving complex covert surveillance techniques and those involving digital evidence.

We are instructed in some of the most complex and serious criminal trials in the jurisdictions of Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, to include murder, attempted murder and offences under the terrorism act.  Our Team has become renowned for its expertise in criminal defence given its respective members appearance in high profile prosecutions.   Members of our Team have now successfully appeared in the two high profile trials (R v Sean Hoey, and R v Seamus Daly) arising out of the Omagh Bomb prosecution, in which acquittals were returned for both defendants.  Members of our Team also appeared in the recent trial for the murders at massereene (R v Colin Duffy) in which the defendant was acquitted of all counts.

At present, Team Phoenix are appearing before the Crown Court at Belfast in the ongoing proceedings relating to the murder of Jean McConville (R v Ivor Bell).

As a result of our criminal defence experience, members of our team regularly advise and appear before the various regulatory bodies for those individuals accused of misconduct, or disciplinary offences.
