Injunction secured against Jolene Bunting

Today our client, Matthew Cavan having previously secured an emergency injunction against Ms Bunting, was granted a full injunction order for a period of 5 years.

Proceedings came about when Ms Bunting published on YouTube and other social media platforms a video falsely equating our client as a child groomer. As a result, our client received online threats, had disturbance and police involvement at his home and suffered much distress and anxiety.

Today District Judge Harmer ruled that Ms Buntings conduct crossed the line between that which is unattractive to that which is oppressive and unacceptable. She further outlined that she had no doubt that being linked to grooming children or paedophilia would cause alarm or distress.

During the course of proceedings Ms Bunting breached the interim injunction and committal proceedings issued. Ms Bunting is to be sentenced for the breach of the Order in June 2023.

Our Ciaran Moynagh was instructed on behalf of Matthew Cavan. Today he said online abuse cannot be tolerated and has real life consequences for all involved. Mr Cavan was vindicated and now has the protection of a Court Order that will remain in force June 2028.
